Hi! My name is Ellie Andrews and I am a social scientist and freelance editor. I earned my PhD at Cornell University in Development Sociology (2020) and my master's in Geography at Penn State (2012).

​Editing services: I specialize in editing scholarly writing, particularly in the social sciences, for both native and non-native English speakers. Scholarship and teaching: My research and teaching are focused on the sociology of sustainability, specifically the interplay between how individual choices affect the environment and how broader cultural, social, and economic structures shape those choices.

I have published articles on how beekeepers' management choices are constrained by broader environmental changes (here) and on historical conflicts around responsibility for disease control in beekeeping (here). I have also written about some of the politics around natural gas development (here and here). 

I teach on a variety of environmental topics and on inequality, often with a focus on student writing:

I have taught through Cornell University's Knight Writing Institute and Prison Education Program, as well as the Environmental Studies department at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
